The market town of Zapfendorf with its more than 5,000 inhabitants is situated in an uniquely beautiful location in the scenic valley of the River Main. For its guests it is an excellent starting point for small and large excursions.
Marked hiking trails through the beautiful valley of the River Main and the idyllic villages in the surrounding area are ideal for nature lovers. Sports enthusiasts will find numerous fields of activity in and around Zapfendorf: the warm-water and leisure pool "Aquarena", for example, is much sought-after; tennis courts are right next door. There is an indoor riding arena as well as a sports and leisure centre with a football pitch and adventure playground.
Despite its rural location, Zapfendorf is very conveniently located and easily accessible by train, car, bus or bicycle. It is only a short skip to the old imperial city of Bamberg, the Veste Coburg, the thermal spa “Obermain-Therme” in Bad Staffelstein, the Giechburg with Gügel and many other interesting destinations for excursions.
The gastronomy offers good Franconian food and holiday guests find accommodation in small guesthouses, inns or holiday appartments. It is well worth living in Zapfendorf, making a stop-over or spending a holiday here.
