Museum of local history in Baunach

The museum is located in the former town hall and shows everything concerning Baunach’s history there from prehistoric times until today.

Baunach was first mentioned in historical documents in 802. In 1328 it received its town charter from Emperor Ludwig, the Bavarian. The museum is located in the former town hall and you can discover everything concerning Baunach’s history there. You will see agricultural machines and receive an impression of old trades like wagon-maker, smith or shoemaker and peasants’ and rural life. In the former conference hall you will see the most comprehensive collection of the painter Max Schnös, who was born in Baunach. In the staircase you will see paintings of Berta Reiser. She found refuge in Baunach in exactly this building during the Second World War. You can see special exhibitions during Christmas market in winter times and during the old town festival in summer times.
