Day 3: Off into the country

After the excitement of the past two days, you can enjoy a little peace and quiet today on an outing into one of the region's nature reserves.

Travelling by car, it is not far to Pottenstein, Gößweinstein or Tüchersfeld in Franconian Switzerland or to the jewels near the Upper Main River, such as the Fourteen Saints pilgrimage church or Kloster Banz monastery. In the pretty little half-timbered villages, typical Franconian specialities are served at innumerable inns. Alternatively, you can explore the countryside around Bamberg along the many cycle paths and walking routes, appreciating the enchanting countryside. In the evening you can spoil yourself with a candlelight dinner in Altenburg Castle, a gondola ride on the Old Canal or a visit to the unique shadow theatre, crowning your stay with an unforgettable highlight.
