Since its establishment in 1946, the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra has been Bamberg and Bavaria's cultural diplomat throughout the world. It is, therefore, small wonder that orchestral music has a special place in Bamberg. However, smaller ensembles such as the Bamberg string quartet and jazz are close to Bamberg's heart, offering many hours of pure enjoyment to locals and visitors alike.
