The musical collective around accordion player David Saam and clarinetist Res Richter is dedicated to wild, cheeky, and uninhibited music-making. Boxgalopp sees itself in the tradition of musicians from previous generations: The group delves deep into grandparents' and grandmas' treasure troves of sheet music to unearth true gems from Franconian and other musical cultures. In the great folk music cauldron, these regional and ecologically sound treasures are vigorously stirred and seasoned with Boxgalopp's signature spices: passion, joy of playing, and energy. The result is a wonderful array of musical treats for dancing, listening, and singing along. It's no wonder, then, that at Boxgalopp concerts or dance evenings, people of all ages, from 1 to 99, happily jump and dance together. Or simply listen attentively and enjoy...
In 2018, the group released a highly anticipated Franconian children's song CD called "Hobbädihö," which has delighted young and old alike ever since. Their performances at the Antistadl Festival, where Boxgalopp plays as the host band alongside the Rohrfrei band, are also legendary. The film "Sound of Heimat" offers a good glimpse of this. In addition, the group has appeared on various radio and television programs, including those on WDR, MDR, and several BR television productions (e.g., "Wirtshausmusikanten").
