The Franconian River Paradise

The Rivers Main and Regnitz are the main players within the Franconian River Paradise. It’s these two rivers, that characterize and form the landscape, creating an enormous potential for recreational activities for man, but also for a natural habitat for animals and plants, sensitive and well worth protecting.

You can experience the Main and Regnitz valleys around Bamberg by water, on foot on the Seven Rivers Hiking Trail or by bike on the Auenweg Obermain and the Regnitz Cycle Path, as well as exploring the river path in Bamberg.

If you’re interested in canoe touring on the River Main please turn to the suppliers and vendors offering canoes for rent. Please observe the minimum water level of 2.20 m at the Kemmern gauge for the stretch from Bad Staffelstein to Hallstadt and only use the moorings marked with the yellow wave. Thank you for helping to preserve the Upper Main as a vibrant river landscape and a European NATURA 2000 site. There’s a complete description of the tour along the River Main on www.main-wasserwandern.de including maps and places of interest, locks, accommodation and the likes.
