Town hall Oberhaid municipality
Oberhaid is located on the right bank of the River Main at the foothills of the Haßberge Mountains. First mentioned in 788, it is one of the oldest places in Franconia. With the reform of the area in 1978 the municipalities of Unterhaid, Staffelbach, Johannishof and Sandhof were added. Originally purely agricultural, it has now grown into a large residential community.
In Oberhaid nature becomes an experience – forests and fields, vineyards and the River Main make Oberhaid and its affiliated villages important stations on numerous hiking and cycling trails and offer plenty of space for leisure and recreation. Located on the northern outskirts of Oberhaid, the Nordic Walking-Parcours is ideal terrain for everyone thanks to its three different levels of difficulty. Gardening enthusiasts will find a special source of information and inspiration in the show gardens of the Kreislehrgarten. There is pure nature in the natural forest reserve Seelaub, which impresses with its untouched nature. Tucked away between the vineyards, the historical Kellergasse in Unterhaid tells of the former home beer brewing tradition and the hop cultivation that once belonged to the region. Today you can experience “going upon the cellar”, when you enjoy a beer at the restored beer gardens of the Kellergasse. The culinary delights here, on the border of beer and wine Franconia, is impressive.
