Nativity scenes rank among the loveliest - and the most tangible - aspects of the Christmas season. This is especially true of Bamberg, the Nativity Town. On a reflective stroll along the nativity trail, walkers will discover an abundance of nativity scenes spread across around 39 stations, including the Cathedral, small chapels, museums and public buildings all around Bamberg's Old Town.
Bamberg at Christmas
As Christmas approaches, Bamberg becomes a wintry town full of romance. Christmas markets, the music of advent and the Nativity stations are just some of the elements that fill the World Heritage City with wintry magic and romance each and every year.
Strolling through the Nativity Town
During Advent, Maximiliansplatz square in the pedestrian zone is transformed into a Christmas market, featuring among others, a large Franconian half-timber nativity scene depicting various scenes from the Christmas story.
