E.T.A. Hoffmann in Bamberg
In the year 1808 E.T.A. Hoffmann, the composer, painter and poet came to Bamberg and took over the role of musical director at the theatre.
The Bamberg years, which lasted until 1813, may not have been the happiest, but they did lay the foundations for his career. During his time here, the town strongly influenced this multi-talented romantic author. He too, however, left his mark on the town which can still be felt to the present day. An important place to visit in this context is the E.T.A. Hoffmann House. His former home is now a museum with a poetry room beneath the roof.
