Handpicked by master violinist Artiom Kononov, the musicians, originally from various countries and now all based in Cologne, have been performing as "The Chambers – The Virtuosos of Cologne" since 2015.
The contrast between virtuoso performances of original classical works, film and pop hits, and their own arrangements of pieces originally composed for a symphonic ensemble is the hallmark of this chamber group.
Kononov's arrangements allow each musician to fully showcase their talent – resulting in the brilliantly played, harmonious interplay of this unique, intimate orchestra. The pan flute, virtuously played by Romanian Ion Malcoci, lends the concerts a magical timbre, distinctive character, and unmistakable sound. Besides his role as concertmaster and musical director, Kononov impresses with his furious interpretations in violin playing.
