Dominated by the former St Michael’s Monastery, the Michaelsberg is a jewel within Bamberg’s World Heritage Site. Following years of renovation, the newly restored St Michael’s Church in Bamberg is finally open to the public once again.
On this one-hour guided tour, you’ll first step through the church’s doors and then discover a veritable ‘heavenly garden’: a ceiling adorned with hundreds of artistically painted plants. Hear fascinating stories about architecture, faith and nature.

- The guided tour is available in: German, English, French, Dutch, Polish and Spanish
- Accessibility is limited – please enquire if required
- Please note the climb up to Michaelsberg is steep in places (sturdy footwear recommended)
- Alternatively, the tour guide can meet the group down in the town (e.g. at the Mußstraße bus stop). In this case, you can book an extra hour for €50.00.
Tip
Combine the guided tour with a visit to the information centre, which has a shop and a café. Here you can buy produce from the vineyard and the orchard meadows on Michaelsberg. Don’t miss the view across Bamberg from the eastern plateau.
