According to legend, the paradise on earth, of all places, was chosen by the devil to conceal his treasure of gold.
And paradise was right here, so the legend goes. It was within the Wüstenstein, the desert rock, which is the most distinctive rock of the marvelous paradise valley, that the devil hid his treasures.
Apart from regular hikers this valley and its rocks attract lots of climbers, when the weather is fine. The dry valley with its bizarre rock formations, juniper heaths and meadows blooming in spring and summer also provides a habitat for many birds. Hikers may even be able to listen to the song of an oriole on their way through this quiet valley.
