The „Ankerfigur 2002" (“Anchor Figure 2002”) by Swiss sculptor Bernhard Luginbühl stands on Schiffbauplatz in Bamberg. The sculpture is in direct view of St. Michael's Monastery and the old hospital. Luginbühl has been known for his massive iron sculptures since the 1960s. His works are made from scrapped spheres, rails, screws and other metal industrial and craft materials, which he assembled into new creations. The Bamberg anchor figure is also based on this principle.
After an exhibition in 2004, the sculpture was acquired by the Friends of the International Artists' House Villa Concordia e.V. with the support of the Oberfrankenstiftung and private donors.
