The literary and theatrical world of Eastern Europe is incredibly rich and diverse – yet largely unknown in Germany. The ArtEast Theater Bamberg has made it its mission to change this. For more than 15 years, ArtEast has been staging plays by authors from Poland, the Czech Republic, Russia, and other countries of the former Eastern Bloc. The ensemble brings old classics to the stage with a modern twist, as well as contemporary works. ArtEast also frequently hosts readings and performances.
The ensemble performs at various venues in Bamberg, often in cooperation with other independent cultural organizations in the city.
Since July 2018, the ArtEast Theater has been a registered non-profit organization.
