The so-called "Maxplatz" is the town centre's largest square. It is dominated by the baroque facade of the Town Hall which was built by Balthasar Neumann from 1732-1737. On weekdays it hosts the fruit and vegetable market. The Maxplatz is also used as a venue for numerous cultural and other events.
