The Abbey Church of the Assumption of Mary, built in the 13th century, with its magnificent rosettes, is one of the most important early Gothic buildings in Germany. The same workshop worked on the Romanesque St. Michael's Chapel as on Bamberg Cathedral. The monastery complex, redesigned in the Baroque style as a palace, with its figural gardens, still testifies to the self-confidence and power of the wealthy monastery. In short, the core complex of the former Cistercian Abbey of Ebrach is one of the most impressive architectural treasures in the entire region.
