Parish Church of St. Vitus Burgebrach

A church has been standing here for at least 1.000 years. Today's Parish Church of St. Vitus in Burgebrach, 15 km outside of Bamberg, goes back to a foundation in the year 1454. Parts of the gothic choir are still existent, but in 1731 the abbot of the Cistercian Monastry of Ebrach, Wilhelm Söllner, commissioned a new church, leaving only the choir and parts of the tower in the original state. Two sculptures of Bamberg's holy emperor couple Heinrich and Kunigunde standing in the choir are attributed to the school of Veit Stoß.
On the church square you will also find a late gothic depiction of the Mount of Olives and another wayside cross going back to 1706.
In the vicinity of the church especially the vicarage and the historical town hall of 1720 are noteworthy.
