Town hall Hirschaid municipality
The market town of Hirschaid is located in the Regnitz Valley - about 12 kilometres south of Bamberg, directly on the A 73 motorway. Hirschaid has more than 12,000 inhabitants and is therefore the most populous municipality of Bamberg County.
In the Regnitz valley between Franconian Switzerland and the Steigerwald Forest, between the Cathedral City of Bamberg and the Royal City of Forchheim, visitors will find the ideal starting point for excursions to the sights of Franconia or into nature. Well signposted hiking and cycling trails, an excellent infrastructure with many leisure facilities and the proverbial Franconian hospitality make for a very special experience.
For those interested in culture, there is always a sophisticated programme of readings, concerts and exhibitions - especially in the cultural centre at Sassanfahrt Castle. Two museums, the local history Museum Alte Schule Hirschaid and the Museum Tropfhaus Sassanfahrt - Bavaria's smallest open-air museum - round off the varied leisure activities in Hirschaid.
