Town hall Litzendorf municipality
Only a few kilometres east of the world heritage city of Bamberg, at the foot of the Franconian Jura and on the edge of the nature park "Franconian Switzerland-Veldenstein Forest" - the community of Litzendorf lies in the scenically particularly attractive Ellerntal Valley and forms the centre of the holiday region called “Franconian Tuscany”.
Worth seeing are the Baroque parish church of St. Wenzeslaus by Johann Dientzenhofer, the largest Celtic burial mound cemetery in Upper Franconia, the important Stone Age site “Jungfernhöhle Tiefenellern”, the oldest stone marter in Franconia (16th century) and the half-timbered house ensemble of Lohndorf.
Art and culture enthusiasts are not only attracted by the various Easter fountains and village nativity scenes during Christmas time, but also due to the Franconian Sculpture Path, the art and contemplative trail, the “Arts trail” or the Memmelsdorf-Litzendorf sculpture trail “Figures in Focus”.
Parish festivals, the Litzendorf candlelight concerts, the Ellertal Cultural Autumn and much more offer an insight into traditions and customs.
