Weissenstein Castle in Pommersfelden is a prestigious example of Franconian Baroque architecture. Its portrait galleries, fully furnished interior and impressive architecture attracts many visitors to Pommersfelden every year.
Weissenstein castle in Pommersfelden is one of Germany’s greatest Baroque buildings. Lothar Franz von Schönborn employed some of the best known architects of their time to construct a fantastic building of European importance. One particular highlight is the splendid furnished staircase covering three floors. The garden has been converted from a formal Baroque garden to an English park landscape. Weissenstein castle offers a considerable art gallery with important works of historical art of French, Italian, German and Dutch painters, including paintings of van Dyck and Rubens.
The palace and the premises are currently closed to the public due to a large project taking place in the palace, estimated until the end of November. The palace can be visited again starting 2022 on January 10th from Monday to Friday between 10am and 3 pm. The official visiting season starts again on April 1, 2022.
