Weissenstein castle in Pommersfelden is one of Germany’s greatest Baroque buildings. Lothar Franz von Schönborn employed some of the best known architects of their time to construct a fantastic building of European importance. One particular highlight is the splendid furnished staircase covering three floors. The garden has been converted from a formal Baroque garden to an English park landscape. Weissenstein castle offers a considerable art gallery with important works of historical art of French, Italian, German and Dutch painters, including paintings of van Dyck and Rubens.
Weissenstein Castle in Pommersfelden is a prestigious example of Franconian Baroque architecture. Its portrait galleries, fully furnished interior and impressive architecture attracts many visitors to Pommersfelden every year.
