Every year, nativity scenes seek their place in our homes, at Christmas markets, and in churches. The clothes horse, on the other hand, finds its place in our living rooms with less debate. For the first time, a nativity scene will be presented on a clothes horse, complemented by a mural alluding to the miraculous image of Mary and Child from the Upper Parish Church in Bamberg. This presentation invites visitors to question their own perspective on the miracle of Christmas and the important things in life.

In European art history, a characteristic arrangement of figures developed: Mary with the Christ Child, Joseph, the ox and donkey, the shepherds, the Three Wise Men, and angels. Can you recognize these figures and the added protagonists by their outlines? Don't worry, the traditional nativity scenes from our collection offer you a familiar approach to Jörg Länger's contemporary interpretation. This creates a dialogue between eras and styles that illuminates the appeal and significance of the nativity scene.

The exhibition will be officially opened on November 26th at 5 p.m.
