The Southern Lake in Baunach is a quarry pond in the valley of the River Main, created by the gravel mining in the area. The lake is fed by ground water.
The Nature Experience Trail is a circular path taking visitors round the lake, giving an insight into the many facets of the natural and cultural habitat of the Main Valley.
16 points show special features of the natural and cultivated landscape and the Main Valley.
Families will take up to an hour for this 2 km circular path.
The path is closed during high floods.
