BAMBERG Tourismus & Kongress Service, an institution of the City of Bamberg administration, is committed to making its website accessible in accordance with the Bavarian Digital Act (Bayerisches Digitalgesetz, BayDiG) and the Bavarian Digital Ordinance (Bayerische Digitalverordnung, BayDiV). In addition, the requirements of the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG) apply to the sale of tickets and shop items as well as to booking and enquiry processes.

This statement applies to www.bamberg.info including the English-language edition en.bamberg.info.

This website is partially compliant with the Barrier-Free Information Technology Ordinance (BITV 2.0), EN 301 549 and WCAG 2.2 Level AA, owing to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

• Text alternatives and names: Images, individual controls and embedded content do not consistently carry a meaningful name or a text alternative. This also applies to the English-language edition. A dedicated field for alternative texts is being made available in the content management system so that images carrying information can be described in future.
• Links to documents state neither the document name nor the format and file size.
• Presentation and operation: Some buttons are bounded by a low-contrast border. Header and footer areas are marked up several times at the same level, which makes orientation with screen readers more difficult. In the language switcher and in the expanded menu, Escape and the arrow keys do not always return to the starting point.
• Editorially maintained content: Headings, lists and link texts are not consistently marked up correctly or understandable on their own; alternative texts sometimes repeat the link text. Editorial revision is ongoing.

This list names the areas known to us. As the website is continuously maintained editorially, individual further cases cannot be ruled out; we remedy them as soon as we become aware of them.

Work to remedy the shortcomings listed is ongoing.

PDF documents in the existing archive have not been prepared in an accessible format. Reworking the entire archive would involve disproportionate effort — a disproportionate burden within the meaning of Section 9(4) BayDiV and Article 5 of Directive (EU) 2016/2102.

Accessible alternative: Wherever possible, we provide the information contained in these documents in the page text or, on request, in an accessible format. You will find our contact details below.

• The interactive city map and further map views. Online maps and mapping services are exempt from the scope under Article 1(4)(d) of Directive (EU) 2016/2102.

  Accessible alternative: All essential details of places, addresses and directions are also provided in text form on the relevant page.

• Third-party content. Where individual pages embed content provided by third parties — such as a video player or posts from social networks — its user interface and features are outside our control. Such content is exempt from the scope under Article 1(4)(e) of Directive (EU) 2016/2102, provided that it is neither funded nor developed by us and is not under our control.

The requirements of the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG) apply to the sale of tickets and shop items as well as to booking and enquiry processes. These services are provided through the forms on this website and are subject to the same technical requirements as the rest of the website — EN 301 549 and WCAG 2.2 Level AA.

Selection, shopping basket and order form can be operated using the keyboard, input fields are labelled, related fields are marked up as a group, mandatory fields are identified, and incorrect entries are named and brought into focus. The limitations listed under “Non-accessible content” also apply to these services; work to remedy them is under way.

This statement was last updated on 1 September 2026. It is based on a self-assessment against the test steps of the BITV test and WCAG 2.2 Level AA, carried out by Magenta4 GmbH, Eichstätt (most recent test: 17 August 2026). A representative selection of pages, components and forms was examined in both the desktop and the mobile view.
