The Bamberg-Breitenau airfield was operated by the US Army from 1945 to 2012 under the name Bamberg Army Airfield. During this period, it was mainly used for civil aviation. Today, the airfield is approved for sports, glider and business aircraft. It is operated by Stadtwerke Bamberg in cooperation with the Bamberg Aero Club. A refuelling facility is available.
