The permanent exhibition is structured around the city’s three historic districts—the Hill District, the Island District, and the Market Gardeners’ District—presenting Bamberg as a cohesive whole, encompassing its culture, its natural environment, and its people. Video projections and a large-scale model of the city illustrate its development across various historical eras. Interactive stations invite visitors to engage directly with Bamberg’s World Heritage site—for instance, by designing a Baroque-style house, planting a traditional garden, or planning a personalized tour of the Old Town. Additional audio stations, hands-on exhibits, and storytelling elements help visitors explore the many facets of this World Heritage site. Meanwhile, regular special exhibitions and events welcome people of all ages, connecting Bamberg to other cultures around the globe.
Whether as a memento of a visit to Bamberg or as a unique gift, the World Heritage Shop offers a carefully curated selection of high-quality products from both Bamberg and other World Heritage sites worldwide. From fine craftsmanship and culinary delicacies to special books and souvenirs, every item tells its own story and reflects the rich diversity of our World Heritage.
