From Buttenheim to the Senftenberg

Known and worn by everyone, the jeans were made famous by the Franconian Löb Strauss and quickly achieved iconic status.

Better known under the name of Levi, he was born in Buttenheim near Bamberg and later emigrated to the United States where he was to use sturdy denim fabric to produce trousers for workers. The different phases of his life are vividly presented at his birthplace – an absolute must for every jeans-fan! In addition, the beautifully situated Senftenberg-Keller with its impressive panoramic view is the perfect place to stop by and have a beer. Another place worth visiting is the nearby Senftenberg chapel, consecrated to the holy George.
